How to Choose for the Best Online Counselors for You

How to choose for the right online therapist for you? This is actually an issue. It is for the reason that not every therapist is the best fit for the every client. It is advisable that you take time and research this and think about your choices.

These are your steps before you decide to commit into a process with your therapist.

1.What does your gut tells you? This is the most important of all characteristics in helping you choose the best one. This is the feeling that you get in your gut of whether this person understands you; will be able to help you and that you feel comfortable with them. If this is not present on your first session then it is advisable to explore and get another option.

2.What is the personality of the therapist? This is also important. Ask yourself what is the personality of your therapist? It will become different depending on your personality as well. You may want someone who is warm, open, inviting and nurturing. Or you may need someone who can call you on your stuff. Or you will need someone who is a little bit more directive or commanding in their approach.

3.What is your therapist's schedule? Since you are both doing counseling online then you need to find the right schedule. If you are living the Far East and your therapist is someone from the Sunshine State then you have to make sure that your schedule will fit yours. You may be working on your day time but your therapist will be sleeping. You need to find the right schedule and the right person who can help you more in being more flexible for your schedule. It is important to consider that your therapist should be the one who is more consistent in your schedules so that your online therapy will be effective and get the most out of your therapy. The more you usually attend your sessions the more progress you will make at quicker rates.

4.What is the theoretical orientation of the therapist? How does the therapist conceptualize what you're going through and therefore then how do they intervene with helping with that problem. You should be able to ask your therapist what is your theoretical orientation. They should be able to tell you a little bit about how they work and how they approach online counseling. It is like the lens in which they see problems.

5.What is your qualifications? You may have previous therapists who had helped you or not, but you have to ask yourself if your therapist is qualified to treat your problem or not based on your previous experiences.

It is easier to get an online therapist if you know how to choose one.
